    • Enjoy a half-day excursion to Golconda Fort and Qutb Shahi Tombs.

This afternoon, your local guide will pick you up for a half-day excursion to Golconda Fort and Qutb Shahi Tombs. The majestic Golconda Fort was originally founded by the Kakatiyas. The heavily fortified structure was later expanded by the Qutb Shahi kings, into the mammoth fort that is present today. Eight massive gates studded with iron spikes protected the fort eons ago, from invaders attempting to batter the defences.

A unique characteristic of the fort that's attention-grabbing is the acoustics of the area. Something as simple as a hand clap at the gate resounds all the way to the citadel. Some say it was designed to quickly inform the occupants of the citadel of intruders. Try your hand at it!

Moreover, the acoustics effect carries on to the Judgement Hall (the Royal court) of the fort, wherein even a touch of your fabric is enough to resonate a sound. As you weave through the different courtyards and galleries within the fort, you may be able to feel the beautiful carvings on the walls and in the balconies, the textures of the different doors and their locks. Running your hands over the walls, you could just feel a bullet hole or two.

Later, continue to the tombs of the Qutb Shahi kings that lie just outside the outer wall of the Golconda Fort. Lush green lawns provide the perfect serenity for these 21 exquisite domed granite tombs with beautifully carved stoned framework. The grandeur of the Golconda kings comes shining through the unique architectural mix of Persian, Pathan and Hindu elements. Walking through the beautiful gardens, take pleasure in the loud call of the peacocks, take note of the chatter of other birds and just soak in the proximity to nature.

Away from the typical experience that tombs offer, walk through its special section devoted to cooking, where you may feel the different molds and outlines of different utensils. What's more, you'll realize how enormous they actually are.

Rising up to a height of 56 m, it has a remarkable square gateway with 4 towering minarets. There are 149 circular steps inside each minaret and one of them is open for tourists to climb. You are on top of the Charminar! Feel the hum of the city coursing through your senses as you may hear the prayer call from one of the mosques in the vicinity.

At a stone's throw from the monument is a bustling bazaar that will lure you in with its famed pearl and jewellery shops, perfume and attar (natural perfume) dealers and colourful bangle sellers. Wander around a bit and you will find yourself drawn in by hypnotic sounds, heavenly aromas of a variety of teas being brewed, attar and a range of paraphernalia a typical Indian bazaar would offer.
