The majestic Golconda Fort was originally founded by the Kakatiya. The heavily fortified structure was later expanded, by the Qutb Shahi kings, into the mammoth fort that you see today. Eight massive gates studded with iron spikes protected the fort, eons ago, from invaders attempting to batter the defenses.

Later, continue to the tombs of the Qutb Shahi kings that lie just outside the outer wall of the Golconda Fort. Lush green lawns provide the perfect serenity for these 21 exquisite domed granite tombs with beautifully carved stoned framework. The grandeur of the Golconda kings comes shining through the unique architectural mix of Persian, Pathan and Hindu elements.
